Planar magnetic headphones

Planar magnetic headphones drive a thin film diaphragm across its whole surface instead of from a single voice coil. The result is very low distortion, quick transients, and bass that stays controlled at any volume.

Planar designs are often heavier and can need more power. Check the weight and the sensitivity, and plan for a capable headphone amplifier for the largest models.
